The question that people ask me most frequently when I tell them that I write fiction is 'Where do you get your ideas from?' That's quite a tricky question to answer as ideas often come out of the blue. That's not to say that I pluck them out of obscurity because, apart from the odd fluffy tale, I like my stories to have depth and meaning, but I am often inspired when least expected. For instance, I may get an idea from a conversation I've had with someone I know well, a chance comment from a stranger or simply from people watching. I usually have something to scribble or dictate an idea on in my handbag but I have been known to use the back of a receipt!

I've always enjoyed writing and was a bit of a poet when I was younger. My first story was published in Best magazine in February 2004 and subsequently my short stories have appeared in popular women's weekly magazines in the U.K, Sweden, Norway and Australia.

I have also had three stories published in charity anthologies:

Greek Connection published in 'Diamonds and Pearls' 2011. Publishers: Accent Press.

I've Been Expecting You published in 'Sexy Shorts for the Beach' 2006. Publishers: Accent Press.

'Table Manners published in 'Saucy Shorts for Chefs' 2005. Publishers: Accent Press.

Although fiction is my passion, I also write nonfiction articles that have been published on ezines and various commercial websites.

So, what else can I tell you 'about me'? I'm a middle child - two sisters. I was born in North London and still live there with my husband Joe. My first job was in travel. I worked in the admin/business house department of a travel agency in Central London for 5 years. I then moved into Catering when my family opened a restaurant in the heart of London - and yes, it's true what they say, it is very hard work but it's also very rewarding.

When I'm working on a new story I'll often be found in a local café editing over a cup of coffee or two. Despite the fact that it can get quite busy in this type of environment, I find that I can switch off from the surrounding noise once I'm involved in a plot, and I seem to get more work done when I'm away from home distractions.

I think it's important to keep fit as a general rule, but I feel that it's imperative when you've got a desk-bound job (like I have). So I try to keep as active as possible. I'm not too keen on the gym but I do enjoy yoga (when I can fit it in), walking, jogging (weather permitting) and my cross trainer.

As well as writing short fiction, I'm the main contributor to two online businesses. I generally work from home but I do have to travel to the West End a couple of times a week, which gives me a fab excuse for some retail therapy! I'm currently working on my first novel.
